WrestleMania VI

I started doing a yearly recap last year.  During the past year, I’ve found myself referring to that post quite a few times so I figured I’d do it again this year.  Got something you want me to cover in 2012?  Drop me a line and I’ll see what I can do!

The Top 10 Posts Of 2011 (Based On Number Of Views)

#10 – Thoughts At 35 No matter how hard I try, I continue to get older.  On this “milestone” birthday I decided to jot down a few musings.

These types of lists typically come out at the beginning of the year.  I’m all for giving convention the middle finger so I’m doing it in the day after St. Patrick’s Day.  Got a problem with that?    Part of why I keep this blog is as some sort of  “outlet” for my creative juices.  Another is that in this day and age this is about the only “cool” way for a guy to keep a diary.  I go back and often and read stuff that I’ve written in the past so these types of lists I get a real… Continue reading

Event: WrestleMania VII Date: March 24, 1991 Venue: Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena (Los Angeles, California) Attendance: 16,158

At WrestleMania VI, it was announced that this event would be held at the LA Memorial Coliseum.  Between WM VI and now, the venue was changed to the Sports Arena.  According to the WWF at the time, this was due to some death threats that Slaughter had received.  Other reports say it was due to slow ticket sales.  Personally I’m of the opinion that it was the latter.  WrestleMania VI had over 67,000 people in attendance and here we’ve got just over… Continue reading

Event: WrestleMania VI Date: April 1, 1990 Venue: SkyDome (Toronto, Ontario) Attendance: 67,287

From the very beginning of this DVD you know you’re in for something special.  The intro is a voice over by Vince REALLY turning it on.  Images of a celestial Hogan and Warrior are shown and Vince booms about the “Ultimate Challenge”.  Gorilla and Jesse are back once again (though Ventura is sans mustache).  As we’re in Toronto, Bob Goulet sings the Canadian national anthem.  It’s weird to start a WrestleMania event without America The Beautiful.

Rick Martel defeated Koko B. Ware This is a battle… Continue reading

WrestleMania 25 is just recently in the books.  It wasn’t great but there were a couple of REALLY good matches.  WrestleMania weekend for me always means going back and reliving some of those great matches from past events.  It’s rare that this list is modified, but thanks to the Dead Man and Mr. WrestleMania this year, it was.  Honorable mentions and The Top Ten are listed in order of occurrence (oldest to newest).  Keep in mind that this is MY list.  I’m sure there are those out there that will put some others in their top ten – I’m an… Continue reading
