I’m not a huge fan of Rihanna but I have to once again give huge props to my wife for turning me on to an awesome song. Talk about a party anthem! Great lyrics and just an all around fun song!
“Cheers (Drink To That)” – Rihanna

Holiday weekends are great and this past one was no exception. We were jam packed starting on Friday night when we got together to celebrate Gramp’s birthday (pics forthcoming). As you can tell from the photo here the kids really enjoyed their weekend and for once we were able to tire them out (3 nights in a row out WAY past their bedtime will do that I suppose).
Saturday was “get away day” as we traveled up to Put In Bay for the afternoon. We had some travel snafus as we’re prone to do, but the boys absolutely LOVED taking… Continue reading
I typically try to keep up with my life here on the blog so it reads in chronological order, but I’ve been so busy lately that I’m a little behind. That said, stay tuned for a couple of posts about movies I’ve watched recently, baseball and Father’s Day.
However… wanted to write about my weekend project. The Sandbox. The boys have had a small sandbox for the last couple of years and it’s quite frankly become too small for them (or more accurately they’ve become too large for it). So… the wife and I have been looking for alternatives and… Continue reading
Today’s the G-man’s 5th birthday! The kid simply doesn’t sleep these days so even though he went to bed at near 10:00 PM last night, he was up this AM at around 6:30. I figured I’d cut him some slack this morning cause hell… it’s his birthday! As it’s his 5th birthday, today also happens to be the anniversary of our first day as parents. To that end, I decided to put this quick list together of the top 10 things I’ve learned in my first 5 years as Super Dad.
In no particular order:
- Being a dad allows you… Continue reading
- When you take medicine it should make you feel better. The fact that I had to go BACK to the doctor fucking sucks.
- Telling a 3 year old not to do something is essentially like saying “please do that”.
- A snow globe has a ton of water in it. And breaks into a zillion pieces when dropped by said 3 year old.
- There’s nothing more frustrating than an Internet connection that’s down.
- The fact that I get upset about a downed Internet connection is a bad thing… it means I’m too connected.
- Weekends are great… 4 days weekends are better.… Continue reading
For us this has been a summer of weddings. Denver, Chicago, Cleveland and now Charleston. It’s weird how after a couple of summers with no weddings… BAM we get hit with 4 in one summer. Certainly not complaining – we had a BLAST! (See: I Poked The Wedding Cake, Combos, Fireworks and Canoes – The Bachelor In Brookville and A Weekend With The Boys Part I and Part II for details).
This weekend’s travel was not without incident (is it ever?)
There’s no way to get directly from Cleveland to Charleston so we had to connect through Charlotte. Not… Continue reading
First off… This is not going to be a story about drinking with my buddies at the bar. When I refer to “the boys” in the title here I’m actually referring to MY boys. If you’re looking for a “drinking with the boys” story, you’ll have to wait a couple of weeks. My brother is getting married in July and his bachelor party weekend is shaping up to be pretty damn cool.
Amanda was in Denver for a wedding and was away from me and the boys for the first time since they’ve been born (for those of you keeping… Continue reading

A Weekend With The Boys – Part II
In my previous post I detailed the events of Friday and Saturday evening with my boys. By my count Super Dad (yours truly) was behind in the scoring 2 to 4. I’d been beaten pretty badly but I hit the ground running on Sunday morning ready for a comeback.
I’d purposefully put off this trip till Sunday morning cause I wanted to have a little more time available to us. We had to make… Continue reading →
