V For Vendetta (2005) Another story from comic legend Alan Moore. Watching this movie I couldn’t help see the similarities with Watchmen (a post “bad shit” look at a city) and recognize just how fucked up Moore really must be. Natalie Portman plays a great role here as does Hugo Weaving (though he’s clad the entire movie in a mask so all you’re hearing is his iconic voice). At times this was a very slow flick but that’s to be expected with an adaptation of Moore’s work. What I will say is I was very much “involved” in the story… Continue reading
Tonight is the season finale of V on ABC and I’m thrilled to say that it’s just the season finale and not the SERIES finale. There was a time there where I was very worried that V would not be picked up for another season based on how it was doing in the ratings. Now that it has been picked up, the writers better make some serious changes if they want to get to a third season. Here are some suggestions from someone who was a HUGE fan of the original as well as this new incarnation.
- Show the damn… Continue reading
It seems like forever and a day but tomorrow night Lost on ABC will finally return for it’s final season. I’ve written in previous posts how I wondered if ABC had made a mistake by keeping Lost (and another show V) off the air for so long. Well I can’t speak for everyone but I can tell you that for ME it wasn’t too long cause I’m pumped as hell about the season premiere tomorrow night!
While I have listened to some podcasts during the break I’ve tried to stay away from plot predictions and spoilers for the last… Continue reading
I imagine by now everyone that’s going to has watched the last episode of ABC’s V. In case you don’t know (as if ABC wasn’t beating you over the head with it) this was the last episode of the year. ABC has chosen not to compete with the Olympics and is not giving us new episodes of V until March 2010. I’m a huge fan of the original miniseries so they already had me hooked and quite frankly I’d watch it whenever it came back. But I really wonder if they’ve done enough in these first 4 episodes to… Continue reading
I’ve finally had a chance to watch the pilot episode of ABC’s V and I have to say that I’m REALLY happy with the way it turned out! I won’t bother going into a recap here cause there are literally thousands of podcasts, blogs, etc. out there that will do that for you. That said, I was so exicted about the show’s return that I figured I needed to do a follow up with a couple of thoughts on the show.
- First off… it LOOKS great. I recently re-watched the original and the special effects were TERRIBLE. This show isn’t… Continue reading
A while back in a previous post I talked about the upcoming re-imagining of the 80′s cult classic V which was going to be coming to ABC in the fall. I’m happy to say that tonight is the night that V returns!
There has been quite a bit of press about this show (both good and bad) but I have to say that I’m really jazzed to watch it tonight. From what I’ve seen it’s going to be drastically different than the original miniseries which I can’t say is necessarily a bad thing. After all it’s been over 25 year… Continue reading
These days you can’t turn around without seeing a reboot, remake or retelling of some story from your childhood. Hollywood has been on this kick for quite some time now so it was only a matter of time before remakes came to network television. ABC is throwing its hat in the ring with a “re-imagining” of the 80′s classic V.
I’ve heard about this for quite a while now and to be honest with you I can’t believe I’m as behind as I am on following this story (Thanks Jason!) The series is going to premiere on ABC… Continue reading
If you never watched V: The Original Miniseries you might not know who Donovan is. You may not know who Diana, John or Juliet are. But aside from the opening dream sequence that would make absolutely no sense to you it would be relatively easy to pick this one up and understand what’s going on.
Just as V: The Original Miniseries, V: The Final Battle was a made for TV event that played out over a few nights in the early 80′s (1984 to be exact). After the initial dream sequence, the story opens on the Resistance preparing for… Continue reading
I recently re-watched the TV miniseries V. Over the years (due to a subsequent sequel and television show) this has become knows as V: The Original Miniseries. I remember watching this when it originally aired over a couple of nights in 1983. I was absolutely enthralled so when it came out on DVD a few years ago I just had to pick it up.
PLOT: Written and directed by Kenneth Johnson, V tells the story of visitors from outer space that arrive on Earth under the guise of peace. They look human and they say that the reason… Continue reading

The Confusion Ends Sunday… Maybe
Don’t worry… this post contains no spoilers. I couldn’t spoil you if I wanted to.
The series finale of ABC’s Lost airs on Sunday evening and so (hopefully) does my confusion. I consider myself a Lost fan for sure, but I’m not a Lost geek. The distinction is minor, but one that’s important to make between fans. As an example, I have no problem sitting in a bar talking theories with my buddy Pat about who did what or what’s going to happen and I do listen to the Official Lost Podcast as well as The Lost Podcast With Jay… Continue reading →
