Star Wars

If you know me even a little bit, you know that Star Wars is a big part of my childhood.  It’s partially the reason that my friends know me as Chewie and regardless of the sham that the franchise has become, I feel it’s my duty as a parent to expose my children to the films.

So… when the Wife goes out for an evening and it’s G, C and I holding down the fort, we have a tendency to watch some Star Wars after they get ready for bed.  At this point, they’ve seen 5 of the 6 films… Continue reading

Facebook.  It’s a social networking site.  I’m not going to bother explaining it any further than that cause if you don’t know what it is, you probably won’t be able to understand the explanation.  I’ve talked many times about Facebook.  I’ve said some good things.  I’ve said some bad things.  I’ve wondered how they do some of the things that they do.  Today I’m back with a couple of Facebook pet peeves.  If you’re a blind defender of all things Facebook then you should probably just move on… this one could get ugly.

I’ll warn you in advance… I have a feeling this is going to turn into a bit of a rant.  I have a feeling that I may insult a few folks and for that I apologize, but quite frankly I’m at the end of my rope.  Don’t say I didn’t give you a head’s up.

My respect for George Lucas is officially gone.  The man that created what I consider to be the greatest series of films ever has finally gone too far.  There was a day long ago where the idea of sitting down with the bearded and plaid… Continue reading

Gettin ready for Pip's Power Hour

I recently made my yearly trek back to the Hoosier State to see brother Pip.  As always the weekend went way to quick, but it was absolutely awesome to see Pip and Lauren again.  I look forward to this trip every year and it had been a while since I’ve made the journey.  Last year, instead of going to Indy for a weekend, we made the trip to Bloomington to be with Matt & Lauren on their wedding day.

I set out early on Friday mid-morning to get a jump on the traffic. … Continue reading

Pip's Living Room (Fishers, Indiana)

As you know I spent last weekend hanging out in Indianapolis with brother Pip.  As luck would have it the Star Wars saga came out on Friday… the same day I showed up.  It’s almost as if there a “crazy ancient religion” bringing this version of Beer Shots together…

I’ve been a huge fan of G.I. Joe for about as long as I can remember.  I collected the toys when I was growing up, watched the cartoon religiously and read the comic books.  When it came time to see G.I. Joe in the theater I was one of the few who actually enjoyed it on the big screen.

These days with the boys I don’t do a whole lot of toy collecting.  The vast majority of my collection (Joes, Star Wars, Transformers, etc.) went to the garbage heap long ago without me knowing about it (thanks Dad).  There are… Continue reading

I recently reviewed the Michael Bay flick Transformers: Dark Of The Moon after seeing it on opening night.  In that review I stated that I’d seen the flick in 2D and didn’t really see the value in 3D (or words to that effect).  A good friend of mine Stan commented on the blog and said that I should definitely see the flick in 3D… so that’s what I did.

I loved the flick the first time around and the second time was no different.  In fact, I think I may have enjoyed it more the second time, but I don’t… Continue reading

In a previous post I talked about how I’d recently gone through some boxes in the basement and pulled out some old toys, specifically my Devastator from back in the day.  That lead to a discussion on one of my favorite podcast’s Facebook page about our collections, etc.  I took this quick video to show a couple of my items and thought I’d share it here as well.

It focuses on figures from the first 4 waves of the current G.I. Joe line called Pursuit of Cobra and also includes Voltron, Star Wars and Transformers toys.  What’s in your collection?

YouTube is an amazing website.  As I’m not taking today off to partake in St. Patrick’s Day events like the rest of Cleveland, I was just going through a couple of my favorites and thought I’d share them.  Enjoy!

I know I’m late to the Charlie Sheen game but this is nothing short of EPIC WINNING.   In all honesty, the guys that put this together are SUPER talented.

One of the most inspirational speeches ever put onto film.  And if you’ve never seen Braveheart you need to go out right now and rent it.  Do yourself a favor.

I’ve been a Star Wars fan for as long as I can remember.  I grew up with the original trilogy to this day those movies have shaped my geekdom in many ways.  The prequel movies came out and like just about every other Star Wars fan I was ecstatic to once again see this universe on the big screen.

I’ve written in the past about how based on those prequel movies I’m done defending George Lucas’ movies.  I’ve also talked about how I’m rather on the bitter side that my childhood is being raped by all of these remakes… Continue reading
