I’m sure the title of this post alone will get me all kinds of SPAM comments, but I’m willing to take the risk to get something off my chest.

Who in the hell thought this costume was a good idea?

This is an officially licensed product available from Star Wars Shop. That tells me that there was not only a product designer but also someone from Lucas Film that looked at this costume and said, “Yep – looks good. It’s approved.” Am I the only one that thinks this is a super inappropriate? I suppose there’s some market out there for folks that want to go to a costume party dressed as a dick, but I haven’t met them yet. Or maybe I’m just overreacting.

If you’re looking for a better option in the Star Wars universe (in my opinion) check out the Slave Leia costume… yowza. But in all honesty this costume has its issues too. If you look like the model feel free to wear this costume. But if you’re like me, you’re closer to ol Jabba here rather then the Leia model. Damn you Miller Lite… damn you to hell.

One final note on Halloween costumes. Is there anyone out there that would actually dress their child as a “Hobo”? Every costume shop we go to looking for kids costumes have all kinds of stuff sold out, but there’s always TONS of “Hobo” costumes left. And why not? I mean, who WOULDN’T want to dress their child as a homeless person? Come on folks, there’s just got to be some better ideas out there in costume land… no?

It’s been a while since I’ve done of of these posts. I’ve got a couple of things bubbling around in the ol noggin so I figured I’d sit down and write for a while… comments always welcomed.

Tonight’s poker night for the Cleveland Poker League – that makes me happy. I hope I play better than I did last game but even if I don’t it’ll still be a good night.

Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. These things are here to stay people. I tried for a long time to stay “off the grid”. At this point I’m so on the grid that I’ve got grid marks on my ass. Standard case of “it is what it is”. Get used to it.

Amanda’s going to be gone pretty much all day on Saturday so I’ve got Daddy Duty again!!! I’m guessing it’s won’t be nearly as interesting as last weekend but you never can tell.

I hope I get to a point in my career one day where I can simply cancel a meeting if I’m late for it. That would be cool.

I’ve been thinking for years about getting a tattoo – I’ve always said that when the Indians win the World Series I’d get Chief Wahoo. Doesn’t look like that’s going to be happening any time soon cause, “they’re shitty again”. That said I think I’ve come up with a design that just might change my mind.

SPAM is funny. Just about every morning I’ve got between 20 and 100 spam comments on this blog. When will they learn?

Email is here to stay. We all get hundreds of emails on a daily basis so I’m not going to bother ranting about how I hate it and I wish it would go away. That being said, I do have a couple of pet peeves that I’ll point out and stand up on the soapbox for a couple of minutes and bitch about.

1. The “Reply To All” button. Folks, if you get an email addressed to you with other people CC’d on it 9 times out of 10 that means the original author WANTS to keep the other people in the loop. If you don’t hit “Reply To All” when you respond all you’re doing is making it so the original author is going to have to FORWARD your response to the other people on the list.

There are obvious exceptions to this (I.E. when you’re going to throw the original author under the bus and you’re being polite, when the reply is sensitive in nature, etc.) but in general terms if you see multiple people CC’d on an email that you get, do the right thing and hit “Reply To All”.

2. Using the Subject Line as your email. I’m sure you’ve all run across this one too. You get an email with the subject line of “You up for some drinks tonight?” and then you open the email hoping to find some more information only to find a blank body. STOP THAT. Actually that example isn’t all that great. The ones I’m really referring to are stuff like this:

SuBJECT: “I’ve got to ask you a question about the project that you’re going to be delivering on Friday. The client called me and said…”

BODY: blank

What the hell people!!! I understand the thought process here (you want to make your subject line stand out with all the hundreds of other emails that its competing against) but please… just stop.

3. Replying to one thread with another. You know the threads… back and forth about a particular issue. The subject lines all reading the same thing – RE: Check this out

So your email inbox looks something like this:

RE: Check this out
RE: Check this out
RE: Check this out
Look at this amazing employment opportunity!!!
RE: Check this out
RE: Check this out
Please her tonite!
RE: Check this out
RE: Check this out

You get the picture. Then all of a sudden the person that you’re talking to in the “Check this out” thread starts talking about something COMPLETELY different. STOP THAT. Start a new thread with a new subject line.
