I’ve had the idea for this post for quite a while now and I’m finally getting around to actually writing it. I’m not quite sure where its headed, but I’m guessing it’s going to be a bit of a rant. For those readers that aren’t in the mood to listen to me bitch about what’s wrong with the wrestling feel free to move along.
Still with me? OK… here goes. In no particular order.
You think Hogan looks old here? This was in 2008!

Event: WrestleMania VIII Date: April 5, 1992 Venue: Hoosier Dome ( Indianapolis, Indiana) Attendance: 65,167
This show was billed as having a “double main event” which rarely (if ever) works out. I believe that this is the first Mania event that I watched live on PPV. We get Gorilla and Bobby Heenan on the mic here which is a good lineup. Reba McEntire sings the national anthem. It seems weird that the WWF can never make up its mind. National anthem or America The Beautiful?

A couple of weeks back I tuned in to a Monday night show of TNA Wrestling and was pleasantly surprised with the show that they put on (from a wrestling perspective). I was however kind of shocked when I looked at the roster to see just how many old WWE and WCW guys were there. I suppose in retrospect this really should surprise me as there simply aren’t that many big time wrestling promotions available for the top guys. If the WWE doesn’t want you and you want to stay in the business then you’ve only got a couple of… Continue reading
This is the type of movie that Oscar loves (as of this writing, Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei have both been nominated for their performances and Rourke has already won the Golden Globe for his). If you’re a wrestling fan you’ll like it. If you’re a “smart” wrestling fan you’ll love it. If you’re not into wrestling or you think it’s “fake” you’ll probably hate this flick but might be able to appreciate some of the performances that are turned in.
As you’re reading this review keep in mind that I’m a “smart” wrestling fan. Please recognize that the term… Continue reading

WrestleMania 25 Recap – Lackluster Show With A Couple Of Standouts
Pip, my brother and I got together and carried on our tradition of watching WrestleMania together. This was the 25th anniversary of the show so were expecting big things and a great show. What we got (with a couple of exceptions) was neither. Overall I’d have to say it was a pretty bad show with just a couple of high spots – certainly not what we were expecting from the biggest show of the year… and the 25th anniversary at that. I’ll take it one step further and say that the only thing that made this one watchable was that… Continue reading →
