I’m not normally a fan of “based on a true story” movies simply because there normally isn’t enough drama involved (unless you’ve got a story like Miracle). That said, Milk really wasn’t on my radar cause I’m not a big Sean Penn fan either. Rourke ready to rumble in Houston – Yahoo! News.
Lord… How I wish this wasn’t real. The Wrestler is an incredible movie. It’s great for a variety of reasons but the main reason is that it shows the “real” side of professional wrestling. It shows how difficult this business can be on the wrestlers. It shows how much the performers give up for their profession.
If this is Rourke’s way of drumming up press for his new movie then so be it. For Vince McMahon I can almost guarantee that it’s nothing more than a money grab. I’d hoped… Continue reading
This is the type of movie that Oscar loves (as of this writing, Mickey Rourke and Marisa Tomei have both been nominated for their performances and Rourke has already won the Golden Globe for his). If you’re a wrestling fan you’ll like it. If you’re a “smart” wrestling fan you’ll love it. If you’re not into wrestling or you think it’s “fake” you’ll probably hate this flick but might be able to appreciate some of the performances that are turned in.

WrestleMania 25 Recap – Lackluster Show With A Couple Of Standouts
Pip, my brother and I got together and carried on our tradition of watching WrestleMania together. This was the 25th anniversary of the show so were expecting big things and a great show.
