Kevin Smith

YouTube is an amazing website.  As I’m not taking today off to partake in St. Patrick’s Day events like the rest of Cleveland, I was just going through a couple of my favorites and thought I’d share them.  Enjoy!

I know I’m late to the Charlie Sheen game but this is nothing short of EPIC WINNING.   In all honesty, the guys that put this together are SUPER talented.

One of the most inspirational speeches ever put onto film.  And if you’ve never seen Braveheart you need to go out right now and rent it.  Do yourself a favor.

Kevin Smith’s… Continue reading

If you’re a regular reader of the blog here (and probably even if you’re not a regular reader), you’ll know that I’m a big fan of Kevin Smith.  Not only do I enjoy his movies, but his books, his podcast, Twitter, etc.  I’ve often said that he’s the modern day George Carlin for the way he weaves words and that’s the biggest compliment that I can give him.  Speaking of Carlin, one of the things that sets him apart in my mind is his stand up routine.   If you’re a fan of Carlin’s stand up routines, you… Continue reading

I recently went on a quick trip to Vegas for work – in on Wednesday out on the “red-eye” on Friday evening.  The show was great and I managed to get in a little bit of time at the tables which was nice as well.  In preparation for my trip, I loaded up the iPod with quite a few flicks to make sure that I’d have plenty to keep me busy on the trip and associated layovers.  I do have a couple of WrestleMania shows for The WrestleMania Project but I typically tend to take a lot of notes during… Continue reading

Regular readers of this blog know that I’m a big fan of Kevin Smith.  That said, it only made sense that one of these days I’d read one of Smith’s books and I started with My Boring-Ass Life.  I typically just get my reads from the library these days, but this particular title wasn’t available in my library system so I picked it up on Amazon.  In retrospect I’m glad that I did cause it took me forever and a day to read this one.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s not because I didn’t enjoy the book but rather… Continue reading

It’s been a while since I’ve done any movie reviews.  Hell it’s been a while since I’ve done any posting at all, but that’s another story.  Since my last review, I’ve seen a couple of movies and I figured I’d put them in one nice little post.  Enjoy!

The King Of Kong – A Fistful Of Quarters I actually saw this a while ago and just never got around to writing a post about it (damn real life getting in the way).  This is a 2007 documentary that tells the story of two men (Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell) attempting… Continue reading

I picked this one up at the library after hearing about it on Kevin Smith’s Smodcast a while back.  I’m kind of a trivia junkie so I figured I’d really enjoy this.  Essentially (as the tile suggests) these are little nuggets of information that are pretty much universally thought of as “truth” when in reality they’re complete bullshit.  It’s an interesting read if you enjoy tidbits of info such as:

  • How many moons does the earth have?  At least 7.
  • The hottest part of a chili?  It’s the central membrane.
  • A jalapeno = 4,500 SHUs (Scoville Heat Units) which means… Continue reading

I’ve been hearing for years just how bad this movie is.  It’s the butt of jokes and the director Kevin Smith talks about how bad it is.  I’m a huge fan of Smith’s other works (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, etc.) so I really wanted to see this one to see if it was really as bad as everyone said it was.  I’m happy to say that I disagree with most of what I’d heard before I saw the flick.

Ben Affleck plays Ollie, a single father who loses his wife (Jennifer Lopez) as she… Continue reading

The most prestigious award that any movie can receive is the “Academy Award For Best Motion Picture” — The Oscar.  Once a movie has this distinction it goes down in history as the “best” movie of that year.  The red carpet at the Oscars is a huge event every year where all the stars turn out.  The Academy goes through some sort of review process and determines which picture is truly “the best”.  Ol Chewie’s here to tell you that there are many times where they’re just DEAD WRONG.

1990 – Dances With Wolves

I have to say that… Continue reading
