The wife isn’t a huge horror movie fan, but she’ll indulge me once a year on Halloween. Last year we watched Psycho and the previous year we checked out the original Halloween. I’d had the remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street sitting on my shelf for quite a few months now and I figured Halloween night was a good opportunity to check it out.
In a word… meh.
First off, the flick starts in the middle of a dream which is fine cause it’s keeping in the tone of the original (which incidentally, is one of my favorite… Continue reading
It’s been a while since I’ve done any movie reviews. Hell it’s been a while since I’ve done any posting at all, but that’s another story. Since my last review, I’ve seen a couple of movies and I figured I’d put them in one nice little post. Enjoy!
The King Of Kong – A Fistful Of Quarters I actually saw this a while ago and just never got around to writing a post about it (damn real life getting in the way). This is a 2007 documentary that tells the story of two men (Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell) attempting… Continue reading
In 1980 the face of horror movies changed. We were introduced to Camp Crystal Lake and a killer named Jason Voorhees (yes, I know that Jason’s mother was the killer in the original… stick with me). From 1980 to 2003, we were given 11 sequels that took Jason from Crystal Lake to deep space, New York City and even to Hell. After nearly 30 years it was time for this franchise to get rebooted… apparently.
Horror movies have never been about plot so I won’t bore you with details other than to say that this is theoretically re-telling the first… Continue reading
Now before you get all on my case about this movie review being 5 years too late let me give you a bit of background… I don’t watch nearly as many movies as I used to. At least I don’t watch them right when they come out. The wife and I haven’t seen a movie in the last 15 years that we both like so it’s very rare that we rent anything. My kids are 2.5 and 9 months and I refuse to write movie reviews for The Wiggles and Dora the Explorer so I’m unfortunately way backed up on… Continue reading

Is My Childhood Being Raped?
I was born in the mid 70′s. It was before we had hundreds of channels on TV and it was before there was a blockbuster a week in the theaters. There are comic, cartoon and movie properties that are so ingrained into my being that they are a part of me… and they’re all being redone for the sake of the almighty dollar.
Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Transformers, Halloween, Friday The 13th, Tron… I could go on and on. It seems as if Hollywood is completely devoid of any original ideas these days. Don’t get me wrong – some of… Continue reading →
