Holiday weekends are great and this past one was no exception.  We were jam packed starting on Friday night when we got together to celebrate Gramp’s birthday (pics forthcoming).  As you can tell from the photo here the kids really enjoyed their weekend and for once we were able to tire them out (3 nights in a row out WAY past their bedtime will do that I suppose).

Saturday was “get away day” as we traveled up to Put In Bay for the afternoon.  We had some travel snafus as we’re prone to do, but the boys absolutely LOVED taking… Continue reading

I reviewed recently the beginning of my vacation to Naples which didn’t start all that great.  So now that I’ve had a couple of days to decompress here’s the blow by blow rundown of our vacation.

This is taken directly from the “couldn’t make this shit up if I tried” file…

Thursday: After a long day at work I was super excited to get down to Florida and see my wife and kids.  Naturally, my flight was delayed 2 hours on the ground in Cleveland.  Luckily I made friends with a whole slew of other folks making the same trip… Continue reading

This past weekend we had our annual family clam bake at my cousin’s house in Pennsylvania.  I’m happy to report that unlike last year, the weather completely cooperated and we had an AWESOME day.  As per tradition, we had 20+ dozen clams, hamburgers, hot dogs, corn, potatoes, shrimp, home made ice cream and beer.

Early in the afternoon, I was hanging out on the porch talking with my cousin and G was poking around down in the yard near the cooler.  I heard him calling for me so I paused from my conversation and asked him what he wanted to… Continue reading

I’m a huge fan of lyrical music.  Sure a good beat and melody can get you moving on the dance floor, but for a song to truly “touch” me it’s got to have great lyrics.  I’m also something of a romantic and a family man as you’ll see from my choices.  There are quite certainly other songs that I love from a lyrical standpoint but these stood out as my favorites.

Colorful – The Verve Pipe This song was featured at the end of the highly underrated Mark Wahlberg movie Rock Star.  As a man who’s married to a… Continue reading

The wife and I had an opportunity recently to actually sit down and watch a movie!  It doesn’t happen often where the stars align, we put the kids down AND we’ve got a movie on hand that we BOTH are interested in watching.  I’d like to say that this was an awesome movie and it was time well spent… unfortunately that’s not quite the case.  In fact, we had to watch this one in two sittings cause the first time we started watching it I fell asleep.

Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn play a couple who’ve been dating for quite… Continue reading

The last couple of weekends have been absolutely crazy so I was really looking forward to some quality family time this weekend and ability to knock some stuff off my honey do list.  I had planned on taking Friday off but due to some unforeseen circumstances that didn’t work.  Luckily it was a terrible day weather-wise so the scolding I received wasn’t TOO harsh.  (sorry again hon)

Saturday started out very nicely.  We decided not to go to soccer as the G-man wasn’t feeling well and we were certain that the fields would have been complete crap based… Continue reading

Weddings are great.  We get to come together and celebrate the union of two people.  We get to see friends and family that we haven’t seen in a while and we get to meet new and exciting people.  Photographs are taken and memories are made that will last a lifetime.  Some of those memories though are a tad bit embarrassing…

I’d actually considered not creating this post… but then I said screw it.  It happened and I can’t change it.  What is it?  Well let me tell you.  Typically the bride and groom get the first taste of their wedding… Continue reading

It’s Monday after a busy weekend — time to reflect.

Fun ‘n’ Stuff – A Good Start I suppose the most logical place to start would be on Friday – afternoon to be precise.  I took the afternoon off to attend the last of the G-man’s 3rd Birthday parties.  We decided to have it at Fun ‘n’ Stuff which in spite of their terrible website is a GREAT place to have a kid’s birthday party.  It had been about 15 years since I took Amanda on a date there (talk about throwing my ‘A’ game!) and they’ve done a TON… Continue reading

We’re learning all the time right?  This weekend was no different.  Here’s just a small sampling of stuff that I either determined as truths for the first time or reaffirmed based on very specific examples…

  • When you have no “plans” for the weekend you’ll look back on Monday morning and realize just how tiring doing “nothing” really is.
  • A child that takes a nap every day during the week will NOT take a nap on the weekend… especially when you REALLY want him to take a nap.
  • The same child that is not napping and is really pissing you off… Continue reading

I live in Cleveland, Ohio.  I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Anyone who knows anything about the NFL knows that one of the greatest rivalries in the sport is the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns.

They hate each other. Their fans hate each other. The two cities hate each other.

That said, there are a few people living in Cleveland that like the Steelers and I happen to be one of them.  I’m a lifelong Steelers fan and I always will be.  I bleed Steeler blood.  I hate when my team loses and I go crazy when they win. … Continue reading
