The concept of a drive through window is pretty neat when you think about it. You’re able to conduct your business without ever leaving the confines of your vehicle. The most well known version of the drive through is of course the fast food window. That’s pretty cool naturally, but not NEARLY as cool as a drive through beer store (one of which I have very near my home). As cool as I think that is, ironically enough, I’ve never been a patron. But I digress.
While it isn’t nearly as awesome as drive up beer, our local… Continue reading
Monday was Cyber Monday and while I simply out and out refuse to do any shopping with the hordes on Black Friday I’m not necessarily opposed to letting my fingers do the shopping from the comfort of my couch.
I’m in need of a new laptop so the Wife was kind enough to find a couple of online deals. I’m not a gamer anymore so I’m essentially looking for a light, quick PC to do email, browse the web and do some web development. Best Buy had one and with my Best Buy credit card I could take 6 months… Continue reading
I have to admit that most of the time when I “go to the blog” to talk about some customer service experience it’s typically a bad experience.
- Empire Snow Removal – Solon, Ohio & Twinsburg, Ohio
- Not Worth The Paper It’s Printed On
- Mint.com FAIL
- This Just In – Verizon Makes Bad Decisions
- XM Radio – “I Wish I Knew How To Quit You.”
I’m happy to say that this isn’t one of those times.
I recently got a couple of overdraft charges on one of my business checking accounts at Fifth Third Bank. I don’t keep a ton… Continue reading
If you live in Solon or Twinsburg, Ohio (or the surrounding areas of Aurora, Glenwillow, Bedford, Hudson, etc.) you may very well have run across a scam. There is a company that is currently calling itself Empire Snow Removal. They offer snow removal services for residential addresses for a very reasonable price. Unfortunately this is a COMPLETE SCAM.
This “company” has been running this scam for several years under at least 2 company names. Back in 2008, I fell for this scam when they were going under the name of The Snowplow Guys. You can read the entire… Continue reading
Other than the fact that I don’t have enough money in it, I’ve got a great relationship with my bank. They seem to do business the right way and don’t send me too much junk in the mail. I’ve always thought of a bank in similar terms as a baseball umpire…. they do their job you forget that they’re there. In any case… I got a letter from them the other day that was such a waste I just had to share.
The title of the letter was “Important Information About Your Escrow Account”. This type of letter comes once… Continue reading
I’m not sure how I get myself into these long, drawn out sagas. If you read my recent post about Mint.com, then you know I’m none too happy with them these days. Just thought I’d give you a bit of an update.
At the tail end of that post, I’d received a follow up email from Mint thanking me for my message. A couple of days later, I got this gem:
Thank you for contacting Mint.com.
Please use the directions below to cancel/delete/remove your Mint account:
1. Log in to your Mint account. 2. Go to “Your Profile”. 3.… Continue reading
Like just about everyone out there, I’m always looking to find an extra buck and I’m concerned about the financial future of my family. To that end, I decided to get a better look at my total financial picture and signed up for Mint.com. If you’re not familiar with Mint, it’s a site that allows you to securely pull in all of your account information so that you’ve got an at a glance view of your finances. This includes your credit cards, mortgages, loans, debts, etc. In concept it’s a great idea. Unfortunately, Mint.com can’t get their shit together.… Continue reading
Like many of you, we’ve got multiple refrigerators in our house. We’ve got a main fridge in the kitchen and a tiny “dorm room” in there as well for additional soft drinks and fruit for the boys. In the basement I’ve got another dorm fridge dedicated to hops and barley. Up until a couple of weeks ago we also had a full size freezer in the basement as well as a partially working refrigerator in the garage. And that’s when the fun began.
We decided that in an effort to be more “green” we’d consolidate and get rid of the… Continue reading
So recently got a new Blackberry Curve from Verizon Wireless. I’ve been with Verizon for years now and I’m very happy with the service. I have very few dead spots and I’ve never had a problem with their billing. Their customer service, on the other hand, leave a little bit to be desired.
Bad Decision #1
My wife and I are both on Verizon plans. Because we use vastly different amount of minutes per month we’ve decided over the years to be on one account but completely separate plans. This allows us to BOTH get the “New Every Two” upgrades. … Continue reading

The Windstream / DISH Saga
I don’t know about you, but we don’t enjoy spending more money than we need to. Recently (after yet another rate increase notice – the 2nd this year) we finally got fed up with Time Warner and decided to make a switch. We were paying around $150 a month for our cable and Internet service through Time Warner… and that’s without any premium channels (HBO, Cinemax, etc.) Oh yeah, throw in another $15 a month for Vonage and we’re talking well over $175 a month for hundreds of channels that we never watched, and sub-standard (at best) Internet service.
Unfortunately,… Continue reading →
