Cleveland

Attention guys: this is going to hurt just to read it… you’ve been warned.

I just got back from our yearly trip to Naples, Florida (more on that to come).  I was delayed getting out of Cleveland so I didn’t get in to Naples until around 2:15 AM on Wednesday (huge thanks to my father-in-law for picking me up).  Obviously the boys were sleeping so I didn’t get to see them that night.  The next morning, I was awakened rather early by my two bundles of joy that wanted to see daddy.  Talk about an ego boost!  I don’t care… Continue reading

OK… so the title of this post isn’t quite true.  A more accurate title would be “I Hate People Who Can’t Or Won’t Drive The Correct Way When It Snows” but that seemed a bit on the longish side.

I live in northeast Ohio.  I also happen to live in a particular spot of northeast Ohio called the “snow belt”.  If you’re not familiar with the term please allow me to explain.  Based on our close proximity to Lake Erie our climate is a bit more humid that most.  So, before the lake has frozen for the year, there is… Continue reading

One last LeBron-centric post and then I’ll be done on the topic for the foreseeable future.

  • People say that Gilbert’s response makes him look ridiculous.  Personally I think it makes him look like an owner who gives a shit.  Sure he may scare away a couple of potential free agents with that blast, but I’m guessing in the end it may show how passionate he is.
  • I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… I’m not upset that James is leaving Cleveland.  He’s earned the right to go where he feels he’s in the best situation.  What I take… Continue reading

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that tonight LeBron James went on ESPN during prime time and told the world that he was going to be leaving Cleveland for greener pastures with the Miami Heat.  If I’m being honest, the decision didn’t really come as much of a surprise to this Cleveland fan.  I can’t blame James for wanting to put himself in the best situation.  That’s his right not only as an athlete, but also as a businessman.  What I can and DO fault him for is the method in which he carried out he defection… Continue reading

LeBron James is going on ESPN tonight to tell the world where he’ll be playing next year.  I’m to the point now where I’m completely sick of the sports angle of the story and quite frankly I just want to get it done with.  However, there’s another angle to this story that folks in Cleveland aren’t really talking about, and honestly for the city of Cleveland it’s probably more important than bringing a championship here.  Economic viability.

According to Reuters, Cleveland is already the “Most Miserable City In The USA” – and that’s WITH King James here leading… Continue reading

It’s been a while since I’ve said a whole lot about the boys so I figured today was as good a day as any.  A couple of weeks back we took our yearly trip to Naples, Florida.  The wife went down about 10 days before I did and then I went down, spent a few days and then we all came back together.  Normally we have GREAT weather but this year it was unseasonably cold in Florida and we only got one day in the pool.  In fact other than that one day we had temperatures in the 50s every… Continue reading

The first snow of the year is a magical thing isn’t it?  Winter has finally come and everyone is happy to have it.  There’s nothing better than a white Christmas to put everyone in a great mood.  However, when you live in Cleveland you need to know that December snow is just the tip of the iceberg… a HUGE iceberg.

Once the holidays are over we typically have at least a good 3 months (sometimes more) in front of us from a snow perspective.  And it’s not that “hey it’s snowing that’s nice” type of snow.  It’s the “good lord… Continue reading

Being from Cleveland and a huge Cleveland Cavaliers fan, I figured I owed it to myself to read the book by the icon that is Cleveland Cav basketball – Lebron James (co-written by Buzz Bissinger author of Friday Night Lights).  In all fairness, I prefer college basketball to the pro game but I figured this would be a good read nonetheless.  Unfortunately I was a bit let down.

This book follows James and his buddies (The Fab Five) on their quest to win a national high school basketball championship.  We follow them from grade school through their senior season… Continue reading

I have to say that normally Christmas lights up before Thanksgiving really irritates me.  Traditionally, A and I have put up our Christmas tree (and associated decorations) either the day after Thanksgiving or at the very latest Saturday or Sunday.  This year I’m sorry to say that I’m a complete offender of my own rule.  While I don’t have my Christmas tree up yet, we’ve had a couple of BEAUTIFUL weekends in a row and for once I took that as a sign and actually strung my exterior lights before it was 12 below zero here in balmy Cleveland.

I… Continue reading

The last couple of weekends have been absolutely crazy so I was really looking forward to some quality family time this weekend and ability to knock some stuff off my honey do list.  I had planned on taking Friday off but due to some unforeseen circumstances that didn’t work.  Luckily it was a terrible day weather-wise so the scolding I received wasn’t TOO harsh.  (sorry again hon)

Saturday started out very nicely.  We decided not to go to soccer as the G-man wasn’t feeling well and we were certain that the fields would have been complete crap based… Continue reading
