The wife looked at me today and made the following statement:
“The boys are neanderthals because they’re learning from their blockhead father.”
While I certainly don’t mind the personal comparisons to Charlie Brown, I thought that was a wee bit harsh on G & C so I decided to investigate what would bring their mother to speak so ill of them.
If you’ve ever read this blog, you know by now that I’m a bit of a wrestling geek. I don’t apologize for it… it’s been part of who I am for the better part of 3 decades now. Also,… Continue reading
Car shopping sucks. It’s a terrible process. You never feel like you’re getting a good deal, always feel like you’re getting the short end of the stick and are damn sure that you’re being taken advantage of when it comes to the value of your trade in. The wife and I have recently found ourselves in a situation where we are in the market for a new car. Not cause we want to, but cause my car has taken it up itself to break down about once every 2 weeks. I love driving it, but with that reliability track record… Continue reading
So it’s Independence Day weekend. That means (among other things), a day off work, cookouts, family and FIREWORKS! The wife absolutely LOVES them and she takes the opportunity to see just as many shows as possible. I believe this year we’ve got Saturday, Sunday and Monday evenings lined up.
The boys love them as well (though I think they’re more enamored with the fact that they get to stay up past bedtime). Being Super Dad, I figured I’d look into getting a few that we could light off in the backyard and ran across this law:
Sparklers, trick noisemakers &… Continue reading
The other night we were having some friends over for a cookout. Along with our boys, they would be bringing their two girls so the 8 of us sat around on the patio drinking (the adults) and playing (the kids). I’d prepared some flank steak, salmon (cause the wife won’t touch a piece of red meat), veggies, etc. to be grilled.
Earlier in the day I was preparing the flank and G asked me what we were having for dinner. I told him that we were having steak and he responded with another question (as he always does… I think… Continue reading
A while back, the wife and I took the kids away to an indoor water park for the weekend. When I was packing up the car I noticed this Cheerio on the back of the truck. We made our near two hour drive and I was unpacking the truck for the weekend, looked down and lo and behold, the Cheerio was still there!
We spent two days at the water park and the boys had an AMAZING time. What little boys WOULDN’T love an indoor water park in the middle of winter (in Northeast Ohio)? At the end of our… Continue reading
I’m not a big country music fan but I was driving a couple of years back on a business trip with nothing else to listen to. I heard this song and when I got back to the hotel immediately purchased it from iTunes. I had the iPod on shuffle this evening and ran across it again. Nearly brought a tear to my eye… damn do I love my boys!

So I’m just getting back from vacation tonight and I’m feeling overwhelmed on many levels. I quit my job, I’ve been away from home for quite a while, I’ve got a bunch of movie reviews to get done, have got a book review to post (and another one coming) not to mention the fact that I’ve had so much fun with the boys over the past couple of days that I don’t know where to begin. Lord… lots of updates to 406 coming soon!
Like many of you, we’ve got multiple refrigerators in our house. We’ve got a main fridge in the kitchen and a tiny “dorm room” in there as well for additional soft drinks and fruit for the boys. In the basement I’ve got another dorm fridge dedicated to hops and barley. Up until a couple of weeks ago we also had a full size freezer in the basement as well as a partially working refrigerator in the garage. And that’s when the fun began.
We decided that in an effort to be more “green” we’d consolidate and get rid of the… Continue reading
Growing up we always had an artificial Christmas tree (my mom hated it when I called it “fake”). Part of the reason we had a fake tree was dad and I were both allergic to real ones. Each year right after Thanksgiving we’d go down in the basement and pull all the decorations out of the crawl space and within a couple of hours we’d have our home decorated for the holidays.
Now that I’ve got a family of my own decorating for the holidays has become a big deal. Not sure who gets more of a kick out of… Continue reading
While all children are different, there is one universal truth when it comes to being a parent… you’re going to change dirty diapers. If you think you’re going to get out of it you’re sorely mistaken. A’s with the boys for the majority of the week on her own so when it comes to the weekend I really do try and do my best to pitch in with diaper duty (and everything else).
So when I got out of bed to get the C-man last weekend it didn’t really surprise me to see that he had himself a dirty diaper…… Continue reading
