Gettin ready for Pip's Power Hour
I recently made my yearly trek back to the Hoosier State to see brother Pip. As always the weekend went way to quick, but it was absolutely awesome to see Pip and Lauren again. I look forward to this trip every year and it had been a while since I’ve made the journey. Last year, instead of going to Indy for a weekend, we made the trip to Bloomington to be with Matt & Lauren on their wedding day.
I set out early on Friday mid-morning to get a jump on the traffic. … Continue reading
A few weeks ago, I got an email from Pip’s sister letting me know that she was making him a quilt made out of t-shirts and was wondering if I had any input. Not only did I have some input but I had what I thought was the perfect shirt to add to the mix… The T5 Flaming Keg shirt. Back in our days in the dorm, Pip and I lived with a great group of guys in Teter-Thompson on the 5th floor. That’s where the nicknames Chewie, Pip, Buford, Amo, Floyd and a whole slew of others come from… Continue reading
So if you’ve been keeping up here, you know that ol Pip went and got himself married this past weekend. The wife and I went back to my old stomping grounds of Bloomington, Indiana to partake in the festivities… and partake we did!
We rolled in on Friday evening just in time for the wedding rehearsal and dinner. The Pips decided to get married at a BEAUTIFUL facility on the south side of Bloomington called Deer Park Manor. I spent 4+ years in Bloomington and never even knew it was there. After the walk through was done, we headed to… Continue reading
Tomorrow morning, A and I are heading back to Bloomington. It’s been forever and a day since I’ve been “home” and I simply cannot wait. There’s never a BAD reason to visit Bloomington, but this time I’ve got an absolutely outstanding reason to visit… brother Pip is getting married!
I haven’t been this giddy since the day before WrestleMania
It’s almost go time Pip. See you tomorrow my man – you’ve got yourself some marrying to do!
PS – The photo shown here is from Pip’s bachelor party in Milwaukee. That right there was a great party… but what happens… Continue reading
This pic just goes to show that 406 was well ahead of the curve when it comes to “cool”. This picture was taken during Homecoming festivities in 2002. I tell you, there’s nothing quite like an outdoor poker game during the festivities surrounded by your friends.
In retrospect, it actually shocks me that we were able to get away with this. Not only were we obviously drinking on our *cough cough* dry campus, but we were obviously gambling as well.
People often point to Chris Moneymaker or the movie Rounders as the start of the poker boom… I like to… Continue reading
Summer is behind us and fall is upon us. College football has started and my thoughts turn once again towards Bloomington and homecoming memories. Unfortunately I won’t be in town for homecoming this year but I will be headed back to Indy in October for a weekend of debauchery. Absolutely can’t WAIT!
I was going through some old pics and ran across this one. As the title of the post says, who DOESN’T like a good keg stand??? I mean come on now… cold keg beer flowing while a couple of folks hold you upside down? That right there is… Continue reading
College is a great time in life and weekends at college are even better. What could be better than a college weekend? An entire week of “weekend”. Little 500 week in Bloomington is the culmination of the party year. Classes are a thing of the past that week as the entire campus simply decides not to attend. There’s too much good stuff going on.
During Little 500 week, Northlane would close off it’s entryway so only residents and their guests would be allowed on the premises. Private security was hired to keep things safe. This seems like a big over… Continue reading
I’m not sure when it happened. Must have been sometime between when I left Cleveland and arrived in Bloomington. Plaid became cool. And not just plain plaid… FLANNEL plaid.
Perhaps it was a carryover from the “grunge” movement that was sweeping the nation but I can tell you this – the majority of the pictures I’ve got from college have SOME plaid flannel in them.
As you can see here, I’m sporting the standard backwards IU cap and I complete the ensemble with a plaid flannel shirt and some sort of fruity looking beer in a house mug.
Wes takes… Continue reading
