A husband and wife are shopping in their local Wal-Mart.  The husband picks up a case of Budweiser and puts it in their cart.

‘What do you think you’re doing?’ asks the wife.

‘They’re on sale, only $10 for 24 cans,’ he replies.

‘Put them back, we can’t afford them,’ demands the wife, and so  they carry on shopping.

A few aisles further on along the woman picks up a $20 jar of face cream and puts it in the basket.

‘What do you think you’re doing?’ asks the husband.

‘Its my face cream.  It makes me look beautiful,’ replies the wife.

Her husband retorts: ‘So does 24 cans of Budweiser and it’s half the price.’

On the PA system: ‘Cleanup on aisle 25, we have a husband down.‘

That right there’s funny.

I don’t remember the exact circumstances (shocking) but seeing Buford holding his beer aloft in what I can only describe as “praise” is awesome.  We’re certainly getting older but it’s memories like these that will keep my 406 days right at the top of the list.

The last time Pip and I got together we came dangerously close to “one night one case” and I’m thinking March 28th just may be the night… time will tell.  Let’s get it on!

2. 3 drinks for every missed match outcome
3. Slam a full beer if Undertaker loses
4. 3 drinks for any legend cameo, 5 if they actually get involved in a match
5. Half a beer for a successful airplane spin
6. 3 drinks for each wrestler who bleeds
7. 5 drinks should someone win by submission
8. 2 drinks for every wrestler who performs their signature move
9. 4 drinks for every wrestler who has their signature move reversed
10. 6 drinks if “Money In The Bank” winner cashes in their title shot opportunity the same night
11. 1 drink for outside interference.
12. 1 drink for every mention of the previous nights HOF ceremonies
13. Full beer if WM 27 is within driving distance of Cleveland/Indy
14. 5 drinks if Shawn Michaels gets involved (defined as interference for either side that would directly effect the matches outcome) in the Vince/Bret match
15. 3 drinks for any surprise run ins
16. 2 drinks for every unsuccessful attempt from the top rope (holy crap)
17. 3 drinks for the appearance of a midget
18. 4 drinks if someone crawls out from under the ring

One of the really crappy things about growing up is that people have a tendency to move away from one another and friendships are tested.  It becomes hard work sometimes to maintain a friendship (though Facebook has made it easier to keep in touch).  I’m happy to say that Pip and I have never had that problem.

A couple of weeks back I headed out for my (nearly) yearly trip to Indy to spend the weekend with Pip (and now the lovely Lauren).  I got in town on Friday evening just in time for dinner.  The three of us then proceeded to sit around the dinner table until about 2:00 AM bullshitting and drinking… lots.  Pip and I polished off 20 beers between us, Lauren was a champ with her wine and we even did a couple of shots.  I tell you what… as I get older I tend to enjoy those quiet evenings with friends much more than a night out.  Not to mention the fact that those nights out are becoming increasingly difficult to bounce back from.  In retrospect Pip and I probably should have manned up and drank two more beers a piece to finish a case but we were pretty tore up.  We now officially have our first goal for next year’s Beeramid: 1 case = 1 night.

Saturday was full of geeky goodness including a wrestling DVD, plenty of Rockband and a trip to BW3 with Buford and Corey to watch the Hoosiers battle Buckeyes.  We didn’t get the win but DAMN was it fun.  Sunday came way too quickly and it was back home to C-Town to see my family.  It’s always sad when the Pip/Chewie weekend comes to an end but it’s super exciting to know that the next one is already on the calendar.  WrestleMania 26 is scheduled for March 28th, 2010.  See you then bro!

And yes… for those keeping track.  Pip is wearing the WWF World Championship belt circa WrestleMania III and I’m wearing the WCW World Title also known as “The Big Gold Belt”.

Jay decided it would be a good idea to put this dude into a headlock and pose for a picture.  Seems reasonable seeing as we were at a “wrasslin” show.  Except for the fact that we didn’t know this guy!  That’s right… Jay is head locking a random here.

I don’t really remember how this turned out, but I know that we didn’t get into a fight that night so dude must have had a pretty decent sense of humor about things.

As you can see from previous posts, I’m a bit of a wrestling geek.  It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a show live but looking at this pic makes me want to go back — you never know what you’re going to see!

In any case, last weekend I had poker at the house for the Cleveland Poker League and collectively we drank quite a few beers and pops.  My wife is GREAT when it comes to recycling so I make it a point to make sure that none of those cans or bottles get thrown away during the game.  So, little G and I go down into the basement, gather up all of the cans and bottles and make our way upstairs to the garage where we have the “can crusher”.  FYI, to a 2 year old, this is mankind’s greatest invention.

So we’re crushing our cans (he handing them to me and me doing the crushing) and I notice that he’s completely soaked down the front of his pants.  My first inclination is to think that he’s had an accident (seeing as we’re currently potty training).  Then a terrible realization comes over me… I’ve just managed to cover him in Miller Lite.  Dammit!!!

His mother is going to KILL him and tha’ts nothing compared to what she’s going to do to me.

So… I’m either a really good guy cause I’m doing my part for the environment, or I’m a really bad dad for dousing my son in beer.  Maybe a little of both.

Pip and I started this tradition while watching WrestleMania one year and we’ve continued it every time he’s come to visit since then.  Now, just the thought of the upcoming weekend has me giddy like a little school girl.  I simply cannot wait.  And while it’s certainly not the amount of beer that we’ve drunk in the past, you do have to keep in mind that I’m an old married guy with two kids, Pip’s in an uber-serious relationship and NEITHER of us have been in college for a decade now.  OK, now that I’ve given our “old criteria” here are a couple of pics… more to come after this year’s installment has been created.
