I’m sorry to say that I had to make a very unexpected and sad trip back to Indiana yesterday. Pip’s Mom who I will always remember as Swami lost her battle with cancer and passed away on Saturday morning.
I’m happy to say that there were literally hundreds of people there to celebrate this wonderful woman. Through the tears and laughter is became once again apparent to me just what a wonderful woman Claudia was. Hearing stories from people from all times in her life was an absolute treat. There was so much love in that room and it was… Continue reading
Going to drop out of “character” here for a moment and just write… As you know one of my best friends on this earth is Pip and I love him like a brother. That love extends to his family and especially his mom who I affectionately refer to as “Swami”.
To make a long story very short, Swami isn’t doing all that well these days. I (like Pip) am not one to ask for prayers from others, but if you’ve got some to share please send them out. She could definitely use them.
Thew, Richard, Lauren… I said it before… Continue reading
It’s been a while since I’ve posted a Pic From 406 and I figured this was just the thing to “get me back in the game” so to speak. While we’re much more mature and grown up these days (OK maybe not all of us) I ran across this picture on the hard drive and it literally made me laugh out loud.
I don’t remember the exact circumstances (shocking) but seeing Buford holding his beer aloft in what I can only describe as “praise” is awesome. We’re certainly getting older but it’s memories like these that will keep my 406… Continue reading
Many credit card companies these days will allow you to upload your own photo to make your card more personalized. Back in the day, Pip took this option to put his mug on his Citi card. Little did they know that the REST of the photo included one of his 406 buddies passed out on the couch behind him covered in newspaper. That right there is funny.
This post is long overdue and for that I apologize… My bestest bud Pip went off and got himself engaged recently to a wonderful girl named Lauren. All ball busting about getting married aside, I couldn’t be happier for both of them and was extremely honored when they asked me to be a part of the wedding. I absolutely cannot wait to see them start their life together. If you’re looking for proof that they’re perfect together see below. Love you guys… congrats!
Warning: This is going to be one sappy post.
One of the really crappy things about growing up is that people have a tendency to move away from one another and friendships are tested. It becomes hard work sometimes to maintain a friendship (though Facebook has made it easier to keep in touch). I’m happy to say that Pip and I have never had that problem.
A couple of weeks back I headed out for my (nearly) yearly trip to Indy to spend the weekend with Pip (and now the lovely Lauren). I got in town on Friday evening just… Continue reading
This pic just goes to show that 406 was well ahead of the curve when it comes to “cool”. This picture was taken during Homecoming festivities in 2002. I tell you, there’s nothing quite like an outdoor poker game during the festivities surrounded by your friends.
In retrospect, it actually shocks me that we were able to get away with this. Not only were we obviously drinking on our *cough cough* dry campus, but we were obviously gambling as well.
People often point to Chris Moneymaker or the movie Rounders as the start of the poker boom… I like to… Continue reading
Summer is behind us and fall is upon us. College football has started and my thoughts turn once again towards Bloomington and homecoming memories. Unfortunately I won’t be in town for homecoming this year but I will be headed back to Indy in October for a weekend of debauchery. Absolutely can’t WAIT!
I was going through some old pics and ran across this one. As the title of the post says, who DOESN’T like a good keg stand??? I mean come on now… cold keg beer flowing while a couple of folks hold you upside down? That right there is… Continue reading
College is a great time in life and weekends at college are even better. What could be better than a college weekend? An entire week of “weekend”. Little 500 week in Bloomington is the culmination of the party year. Classes are a thing of the past that week as the entire campus simply decides not to attend. There’s too much good stuff going on.
During Little 500 week, Northlane would close off it’s entryway so only residents and their guests would be allowed on the premises. Private security was hired to keep things safe. This seems like a big over… Continue reading
