Being that I’m a comic nerd and a fan of assassin movies I’m pissed that it took me so long to get to this one. I’ve never read the comic that this flick is based on but I figured that wouldn’t be a problem as it’s “loosely” based on the book from what I hear.
Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) is stuck in dead end job that he hates. His world changes when he’s told that his long lost father was actually one of the best assassins the world has ever seen. In addition to learning that his father has been… Continue reading
I’ve been enthralled for years by the story of the Zodiac killer so I was very much looking forward to seeing this flick – not sure why it took me so long but I’m happy that I’ve finally gotten around to seeing it. For those that don’t know, Zodiac tells the story of a serial killer in the San Francisco area in the late 60′s and early 70′s. The Zodiac killer murdered 5 people, sent multiple letters to the police taunting them and was never captured. The case remains open and unsolved.
The cast of this David Fincher directed movie… Continue reading
I’ve been hearing for years just how bad this movie is. It’s the butt of jokes and the director Kevin Smith talks about how bad it is. I’m a huge fan of Smith’s other works (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, etc.) so I really wanted to see this one to see if it was really as bad as everyone said it was. I’m happy to say that I disagree with most of what I’d heard before I saw the flick.
Ben Affleck plays Ollie, a single father who loses his wife (Jennifer Lopez) as she… Continue reading
As I sit down to write this review I’m still not sure what I think about this movie. It’s either kind of brilliant or kind of terrible. Hopefully by the time I get to the end of this post I’ll figure it out. I can say that of the 4 of us that watched it together, 1 hated it and 1 fell asleep. I can also say that whether it was good or bad, it was LONG (2 hours and 20 minutes).
WARNING: Spoilers
Judd Apatow directs Adam Sandler, Seth Rogan, Leslie Mann, Eric Bana & Jonah Hill in what… Continue reading
The wife and I had an opportunity recently to actually sit down and watch a movie! It doesn’t happen often where the stars align, we put the kids down AND we’ve got a movie on hand that we BOTH are interested in watching. I’d like to say that this was an awesome movie and it was time well spent… unfortunately that’s not quite the case. In fact, we had to watch this one in two sittings cause the first time we started watching it I fell asleep.
Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn play a couple who’ve been dating for quite… Continue reading
I’m a huge James Bond fan so the fact that it took me nearly 3 years to see this one after it came out really pains me. Seeing as I’m so late to this review I won’t bother with plot cause there are plenty of other reviews out there. This is essentially a reboot to the Bond series with Daniel Craig taking the lead role of 007.
This is Bond on steroids… plain and simple. The best way I can describe it is to say that Bond has been given the “Jason Bourne” treatment. There’s a scene early in the… Continue reading
If you’re like me you have eaten your fair share of fast food. Actually… if you’re like me you’ve eaten more than your fair share of fast food. I think it’s safe to say that we all understand that this stuff isn’t “good” for us but until you watch this documentary by Morgan Spurlock you may not know just how BAD it is for you.
To make a long story short, Spurlock wanted to see just how bad fast food, and specifically McDonald’s, is for a person. So he decided to go on the McDiet. 3 meals a day, 7… Continue reading
It’s not often that the wife and I find a movie (or TV show) that we both enjoy. I’m halfway embarrassed to say but this happens to be one of those movies. As big King of Queens fans both A and I really enjoy Kevin James. When I first saw the previews for this I totally didn’t think I’d enjoy it. It looked completely campy and the jokes looks WAY too easy.
After watching it, I can say that the it was completely campy and the jokes were WAY too easy. That said, we found ourselves giggling multiple times and… Continue reading
In 1980 the face of horror movies changed. We were introduced to Camp Crystal Lake and a killer named Jason Voorhees (yes, I know that Jason’s mother was the killer in the original… stick with me). From 1980 to 2003, we were given 11 sequels that took Jason from Crystal Lake to deep space, New York City and even to Hell. After nearly 30 years it was time for this franchise to get rebooted… apparently.
Horror movies have never been about plot so I won’t bore you with details other than to say that this is theoretically re-telling the first… Continue reading
