I ran across this little gem the other day and it compelled me to write. Regardless of my social media banterings, I tend to be a little bit slow on the uptake on these sorts of “phenomenons”.

I’d never heard of a Leap Pad until the wife told me I had to be at Target five mornings a week before 8:00 AM to get one.

I’d never heard of The Elf On The Shelf until last year (Charlie in our house for those keeping track).

I have no idea what Pinterest is or why I would want to use it.

That’s just a few examples and I’m sure there are countless others. But I digress. I ran across this (excuse the pun) piece of shit the other day: The Doggie Doo. Apparently it’s one of this Christmas season’s hottest toys. Seeing as I’d never heard of it, I’ve obviously never played it, but from what I can gather it involves feeding this dog some play dough like substance until it shits. The first player who collects 3 “messes” wins.

The website – http://www.doggiedoogame.com/ – will tell you all about the game, show you some videos, tell you where to buy it and enthrall you with content like this:

“You can only pick up the dog’s mess when it has fallen on the table. When it is hanging outside the end of the dog, just tap him on the back until it drops.”

“If Doggie Doo has stomach problems, and no mess is coming out of the dog, feed him just one more time with the correct amount of food and it should push it out.”

Please allow me to bang my head against my desk for a moment at this scatalogical entry into pop culture. I can only thank God that my kids haven’t caught wind of this yet.

I’ve gotta ask a few questions here:

What parent honestly thinks this is a good toy? I mean lets face it, at least Everyone Poops has some redeeming value as an educational tool. This just seems rather silly to me.

How creepy is the photo on the right? I spose it’s not too bad until you realize it was taken from a toy that promotes dogs pooping so you can win. Gives a new meaning to Charlie Sheen’s “winning” doesn’t it?

Where can I get one? After all, it’s only a matter of time until the boys are thinking about nothing else… crap.

I recently posted this picture to my Facebook page. Now I know that Crocs aren’t “cool” by any stretch of the imagination, but I have to say I was a little bit shocked at just how much people hate these shoes.

That's right... I'm wearing my Crocs to the Home Depot. I am dad... Hear me roar.

Interested in the responses? Here they are (some of them had me rolling)…

not cool..lmao!

Yuck

Lowes is much better

you shouldn’t be wearing those unless you’re mario batali or 6.

-5 cool points

I see no problem with this…

Fressssssshhhh!

Do they at least match your slacks and sweater vest?

Omg a preppie daddy …

If you are at bainbridge HD you’ll fit in …

Looking for those shoes that look like feet

Sad,sad day

they don’t make those for men…do they?

Chop!

That’s wrong in more ways than I can count. Next you’ll wear them with black socks and plaid shorts.

My only question is this. When did Crocs become synonymous with “preppy”?

I’m looking for someone out there on the Intrawebs to help me out. 406 is typically apolitical blog and I intend on keeping it that way. I’m actually just looking for some help. Could someone please give me the context to this picture:

Here’s how it was presented to me (via email). Apparently I’m looking at our Commander in Chief purposefully NOT saluting the American flag during recent Fort Hood memorial services. I can only assume that I’m not being given the entire story because I simply cannot believe that President Obama would not show his respect.

Has this been Photoshopped?

Have I been living under a rock and this story is already out there?

Is there more to this?

Again… this blog is not political in nature nor will it ever be. There are plenty of places to find that stuff and 406 is not the place. Just looking for some help.

Most of my jeans have these tags along the belt line. Many brands give you the option of putting your belt under the tag so you can still see it. I’ve always been one to thread the belt under but I found myself wondering if this was normal (these are the kinds of thoughts that keep me from going places).

So I’ll pose a question: When available – over or under the tag?

You drive through your favorite drive through and get your favorite tasty beverage. Invariably they hand you your drink and straw and there’s pop all over the outside of the cup! What… the… fuck! Is is so difficult to poor Pepsi, Coke, Mountain Dew, etc. into a cup and NOT get it all over the place? And if you do splash some of it on the cup would it be so difficult to take 4 seconds and wipe it off?

I’m not sure, I’ve never worked a drive through. Maybe I’m being unreasonable. Let me know.

I live in Cleveland, Ohio. I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Anyone who knows anything about the NFL knows that one of the greatest rivalries in the sport is the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns.

They hate each other.
Their fans hate each other.
The two cities hate each other.

That said, there are a few people living in Cleveland that like the Steelers and I happen to be one of them. I’m a lifelong Steelers fan and I always will be. I bleed Steeler blood. I hate when my team loses and I go crazy when they win. The fact that that Steelers have won more Super Bowls than any other team in history is irrelevant to this discussion.

The rest of my family absolutely HATES the Steelers. They root against them with as much passion as they root for the Browns. When I was recently watching the Super Bowl they were SO happy when it appeared that the Steelers had let the game slip away and were SO angry when they saw them come back and win the game.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s in this particular situation. I’m sure there are Packer fans living in Chicago, Cowboy fans living in Washington and Raider fans living in Denver. However, since I’ve lived in Cleveland for nearly 3 decades I’ve honestly come to love the Browns as well. When they play the Steelers I still root for the Black & Gold but otherwise I’m rooting for the Brownies.

When people learn this they tell me how weird I am. They tell me that I simply CANNOT have allegiance to two teams. I suppose they’re right. When forced to make a choice (on game day) I root for the Steelers. Now I’m just babbling but I’m looking to know… Am I crazy? Am I the only one in this situation? Am I the only one that doesn’t completely hate the opposition?

OK. Some people call it soda, some call it pop, some call it Pepsi, others still call it a soft drink. Just so we’re clear, I’m talking about the stuff that comes in a can/bottle that’s oh so refreshing.

So here’s my question — what the hell’s so damn bad about it? I’ve seen the emails about how it eats through bolts and can get blood off the highway. I’m not referring to that. Why is it so bad from a dieting perspective? If I’m on a diet why SHOULDN’T I drink this stuff? It’s got no carbs, no sugar, no caffeine and no calories. So why should I stay away from it?

No honestly… I’m looking for an answer here. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
