Monthly Archives: September 2010

I was rummaging through my bookcase the other night looking for something to read and came across a hardback copy of True Blue.  Not sure when exactly I picked it up, but if I had to guess I’d say it was for Christmas last year.  In any case, I’d just gotten done reading the latest trade of Fables so I cracked it open.

WARNING: THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS

Mason “Mace”Perry is a former police officer in D.C. who was framed for a crime she didn’t necessarily commit (sounds eerily similar to the A-Team doesn’t it?)  Her sister Beth… Continue reading

OK… I’m trying not to eat a bunch of fast food these days but on a rare occasion I’ll actually stop through the drive through and on an ever rarer occasion will I step inside the store.  One question: What the hell is up with the napkin dispensers in these places?  I’m looking for 1 napkin… maybe 2.  Invariably I reach in and one of two things happens.

  1. I scrape the hell out of my hand/wrist trying to reach up and grab a napkin.
  2. I get a big wad of about 30 napkins and the dispenser is left looking like… Continue reading

Well Pip beat me to it on Facebook, but I simply MUST post the 2010 Beeramid photos here on 406.  As per tradition, we had our WrestleMania 26 Drinking Game that was helping us along the way in our quest.  This year however, we decided not to just take a “before” and “after” picture, but also decided to do a little pictorial.  So here, without further adieu… is Beeramid 2010!

The Calm Before The Storm

Row #1 - We're On Our Way

Row #2 - In For A Long Haul

At this point, we knew we were in for a… Continue reading

Car shopping sucks.  It’s a terrible process.  You never feel like you’re getting a good deal, always feel like you’re getting the short end of the stick and are damn sure that you’re being taken advantage of when it comes to the value of your trade in.  The wife and I have recently found ourselves in a situation where we are in the market for a new car.  Not cause we want to, but cause my car has taken it up itself to break down about once every 2 weeks.  I love driving it, but with that reliability track record… Continue reading

Event: WrestleMania XII Date: March 31, 1996 Venue: Arrowhead Pond (Anaheim, California) Attendance: 18,853

Still coming to you as the World Wrestling Federation.  Damn if I can’t remember when the switch came.  I could have sworn it was around this time.  We start off with a Bret Hart/Shawn Michaels promo and go right into the action – No America The Beautiful or National Anthem.

Camp Cornette (Vader, Owen Hart and The British Bulldog) (with Jim Cornette) defeated Yokozuna, Jake Roberts and Ahmed Johnson (with Mr. Fuji) Jake Roberts looks REALLY out of place on his team.  The Sesame Street… Continue reading

I’ve been a Star Wars fan for as long as I can remember.  I grew up with the original trilogy to this day those movies have shaped my geekdom in many ways.  The prequel movies came out and like just about every other Star Wars fan I was ecstatic to once again see this universe on the big screen.

I’ve written in the past about how based on those prequel movies I’m done defending George Lucas’ movies.  I’ve also talked about how I’m rather on the bitter side that my childhood is being raped by all of these remakes… Continue reading

Pip’s getting married in little more than a month.  In a little less than a week, I’m going to partake in his bachelor party.  We get together twice a year: once in the spring for the annual WrestleMania event and once  in the fall.  This year, my fall trip won’t happen as Pip will be rather busy with his nuptials.  But just as the WWE starts their “Road To WrestleMania” with the Royal Rumble in January, Pip’s “Road To Marriage” will start this weekend (or end ) in Milwaukee.

Normally our twice a year get togethers… Continue reading

One of my favorite things about the summer is the additional time I get to spend with my wife and kids.  We don’t watch a lot of TV the way it is, but during the summer we really take advantage and spend a lot of time outside.  We’re lucky enough to live in a community where we’ve got plenty of spots to go on family bike rides.

G has made great strides this summer both in the pool and on the bike.  A few weeks back we went down to Lake Erie and took a bike ride along the lake… Continue reading

Ran across this gem on the hard drive tonight and just had to post it.  At first glance this one is pretty tame.  Upon further inspection though, it’s clear that it belongs right here on 406.  Patty takes it upon herself to wish Pip a “Happy New Year” in her own special way.

Pip, to his credit, appear to be pulling this particular situation off rather well.  Not quite sure how I’d react to a random package grab but I’d hope that I”d handle it with such grace.  Well done sir!
