Event: WrestleMania IX Date: April 4, 1993 Venue: Caesars Palace (Las Vegas, Nevada) Attendance: 16,891

Gorilla Monsoon on the mic for this outdoor event at Caesars Palace.  They’re referring to it as “the world’s largest toga party”.  I’m sure that’s supposed to be clever, but it comes across and being completely lame.  When Howard Finkel is announced, he’s referred to as “Finkus Maximus”.  I can’t begin to tell you how incredibly retarded this looks.  Caesar and Cleopatra are paraded down to the ring to welcome the fans.  I understand it’s Vegas, but this is ridiculous.  Macho Man comes to the… Continue reading

Folks… when you work in an office environment and you drink coffee, have some decency and make a pot if you take last cup.  It won’t kill you.  This simple act of brewing a pot of coffee will certainly NOT kill you, and will make other coworkers (who are looking for coffee) want to kill you less.

Oh, and don’t think that just cause you don’t take the last 4 drops of you’re off the hook.  Dump the rest of that shit out and make a new pot.  Again, it won’t kill you.  For those of you out there who’ve… Continue reading

It’s Monday morning and damn if we didn’t just have a great weekend – though a little on the weird side.  At this point I’m a little sunburned and a little chafed (damn you protective webbing on the swimsuit… damn you to hell!!!) but man was it fun.

Friday: After work and dinner on Friday night, we needed to take Mom’s truck to the Nissan dealership so they could work on it Saturday morning.  After that, we decided to do some shopping so Dad could have some supplies for the weekend’s activities.  We hit up Lowe’s and the  boys got… Continue reading

It’s been quite some time since I came up with any kind of a Top 10 list.  I was flipping through the channels the other night in a hotel room and ran across First Blood on AMC.  Naturally, I sat there and watched it till the end and it got me to thinking what a great era the 80′s was for action flicks.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

Revenge Of The Ninja (1983) – When I think of “ninja movies” this is the one that comes to mind.  Main character Cho (Sho Kosugi) swears off being a ninja only to be brought “out… Continue reading

The short answer is, I have no idea who this dude is.  And therein lies the problem.  This is one of the “suggestions” that Facebook gave me this AM as someone that I should be friends with.  Now I’m not here to judge this guy at all – in fact he seems like a swell dude.  I’m just not sure how we’re connected, or why he was suggested to me.

  • OK, so we’re both male.  If that’s the only criteria FB is looking at, their algorithm needs a lot of work.
  • He’s nearly 20 years older than me.
  • He’s single,… Continue reading

I get the distinct pleasure every Tuesday evening to watch my son play t-ball.  This is the second year that he’s at it, and while I think that 4 is way too young to play the game of baseball in any form, it’s still about the cutest thing you’ll ever want to see.  G is a ball of energy like I’ve never seen (which my mother constantly reminds me is the way I was).  Needless to say, the concept of “staying in position” or “standing on the base” is a little bit difficult for him.

As I was standing watching… Continue reading

I recently went on a quick trip to Vegas for work – in on Wednesday out on the “red-eye” on Friday evening.  The show was great and I managed to get in a little bit of time at the tables which was nice as well.  In preparation for my trip, I loaded up the iPod with quite a few flicks to make sure that I’d have plenty to keep me busy on the trip and associated layovers.  I do have a couple of WrestleMania shows for The WrestleMania Project but I typically tend to take a lot of notes during… Continue reading

I’m not a big fan of email jokes, but every once in a while I get one in my inbox that gets me.  Ran across this one today (from my mom no less) and figured I’d pass it along.

A husband and wife are shopping in their local Wal-Mart.  The husband picks up a case of Budweiser and puts it in their cart.

‘What do you think you’re doing?’ asks the wife.

‘They’re on sale, only $10 for 24 cans,’ he replies.

‘Put them back, we can’t afford them,’ demands the wife, and so  they carry on shopping.

A few… Continue reading

Event: WrestleMania VIII Date: April 5, 1992 Venue: Hoosier Dome ( Indianapolis, Indiana) Attendance: 65,167

This show was billed as having a “double main event” which rarely (if ever) works out.  I believe that this is the first Mania event that I watched live on PPV.  We get Gorilla and Bobby Heenan on the mic here which is a good lineup.  Reba McEntire sings the national anthem.  It seems weird that the WWF can never make up its mind.  National anthem or America The Beautiful?

Shawn Michaels (with Sensational Sherri) defeated El Matador Tito’s gone “El Matador” on us… Continue reading

Regular readers of this blog know that I’m a big fan of Kevin Smith.  That said, it only made sense that one of these days I’d read one of Smith’s books and I started with My Boring-Ass Life.  I typically just get my reads from the library these days, but this particular title wasn’t available in my library system so I picked it up on Amazon.  In retrospect I’m glad that I did cause it took me forever and a day to read this one.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s not because I didn’t enjoy the book but rather… Continue reading
