A couple of days before Christmas our dog Ralphie had some pretty serious back surgery.  His entire back had to be shaved and he had an incision about 6 inches long running down his spine.  Luckily he’s recovering nicely but it’s been a long road back for sure.  We’ve got to carry him up and down all the steps, make sure he doesn’t jump up or down furniture, etc.  Of course this is a colossal pain in the ass cause those are all things he’s been able to do his entire life.

But like I said, he’s recovering nicely.  In… Continue reading

WrestleMania XXVI will take place on March 28th in Arizona.  I’m happy to say that after working through some logistical issues, Pip and I will once again renew our Beeramid tradition!  As with years past, we have created these “rules of engagement” which will help us to construct that glorious structure.

The last time Pip and I got together we came dangerously close to “one night one case” and I’m thinking March 28th just may be the night… time will tell.  Let’s get it on!

ED NOTE: Looking back over the photos from last year, we realized that we… Continue reading

It’s been a while since I’ve said a whole lot about the boys so I figured today was as good a day as any.  A couple of weeks back we took our yearly trip to Naples, Florida.  The wife went down about 10 days before I did and then I went down, spent a few days and then we all came back together.  Normally we have GREAT weather but this year it was unseasonably cold in Florida and we only got one day in the pool.  In fact other than that one day we had temperatures in the 50s every… Continue reading

For those of you that are facebook users you’re probably familiar with the “friend suggestions” that they give you on a regular basis.  This is a great way to reconnect with people that you know based on your current friend list.  I’ve often wondered what kind of algorithm is used to create these suggestions.

Looking over my suggestions this evening I came to the conclusion that the algorithm is pretty simple… if you’ve got 2 friends in common you’re going to get a suggestion.  So this means that if you’re friend with say one of your buddies and his wife,… Continue reading

The world lost a great author yesterday when Robert B. Parker died at his home in Massachusetts.  Dr. Parker was the author of over 50 novels.  He was 77 years old and is survived by his wife and two sons.  Ever the working man, Dr. Parker died sitting at his desk.

Even if you weren’t a fan of Parker’s work you may very well know one of his characters – Spenser of Spenser For Hire fame brought to life by Robert Urich.  Spenser was subsequently played by Joe Mantegna in several made for TV movies.  Spenser is a wise cracking… Continue reading

I’m not a big country music fan but I was driving a couple of years back on a business trip with nothing else to listen to.  I heard this song and when I got back to the hotel immediately purchased it from iTunes.  I had the iPod on shuffle this evening and ran across it again.  Nearly brought a tear to my eye… damn do I love my boys!

Artist/Band: Rodney Atkins Lyrics for Song: Watching You

A couple of weeks back I tuned in to a Monday night show of TNA Wrestling and was pleasantly surprised with the show that they put on (from a wrestling perspective).  I was however kind of shocked when I looked at the roster to see just how many old WWE and WCW guys were there.  I suppose in retrospect this really should surprise me as there simply aren’t that many big time wrestling promotions available for the top guys.  If the WWE doesn’t want you and you want to stay in the business then you’ve only got a couple of… Continue reading

I’ve been enthralled for years by the story of the Zodiac killer so I was very much looking forward to seeing this flick – not sure why it took me so long but I’m happy that I’ve finally gotten around to seeing it.  For those that don’t know, Zodiac tells the story of a serial killer in the San Francisco area in the late 60′s and early 70′s.  The Zodiac killer murdered 5 people, sent multiple letters to the police taunting them and was never captured.  The case remains open and unsolved.

The cast of this David Fincher directed movie… Continue reading

So last week we got about 30 inches of snow in a two day period.  This of course means snowblowing… and lots of it.  I’m a tad bit anal when it comes to keeping my driveway clean so I’m the neighbor that’s out there multiple times per day keeping it clear.

I make sure that I’ve got the entire driveway nice and clean so when it’s time for me to venture out I can do it.  The city then comes by with their huge snowplows and plows the street in front of my house.  Invariably they create a HUGE ice/snow… Continue reading
