I was a big Saturday Night Live fan for a lot of year.  These days I’ll tape it if there’s a good host on but honestly I’ve got better things to do with my time.  Sure there are some good nuggets now and then but for the most part I’m not a huge fan of the current cast.  That said, this past weekend we got an on air f-bomb from one of the newbies in the cast.  Might just have to check this season out!

Not sure when it happened but I woke up the other day and I’ve got a wife of 11 years, a 3 year old and a 1 year old.  The 3 year old is already through his first season of t-ball, has started pre-school and is on his second week of soccer season.  I spent Saturday morning at the soccer field (in the rain) watching G chase the ball around while I chased C around.  I don’t have a mini van yet but I can tell you that the back seat of my car contains two car seats.  Saturday isn’t… Continue reading

The CBS show Survivor is in its 19th season.  Even after all that time its still one of the highest rated programs on the tube and certainly is the Godfather of “reality television” as we know it today.  There have been rule changes and format changes but the general game is pretty much the same as it was when Richard Hatch won the first installment.  But I’m wondering… have the Survivors gone soft?

On last night’s episode, Mike Borassi was removed from the game due to injury.  This seems to have been a common occurrence over the past couple of… Continue reading

I’m a big professional wrestling geek… have been for more years that I care to remember.  If you’re a regular 406 reader you already know this.  Pip and I get together every year and build the Beeramid based on that year’s drinking game.  I often tell people that professional wrestling is a soap opera for guys but that’s probably giving it too much credit.  Bottom line is after all of these years I still really enjoy watching it.  Sure I don’t follow it to the extent that I did back in the day but I can tell you that… Continue reading

This pic just goes to show that 406 was well ahead of the curve when it comes to “cool”.  This picture was taken during Homecoming festivities in 2002.  I tell you, there’s nothing quite like an outdoor poker game during the festivities surrounded by your friends.

In retrospect, it actually shocks me that we were able to get away with this.  Not only were we obviously drinking on our *cough cough* dry campus, but we were obviously gambling as well.

People often point to Chris Moneymaker or the movie Rounders as the start of the poker boom… I like to… Continue reading

The fall seems to be synonymous with horror movies.  It might be due to a little flick called Halloween.  In any case I’m a HUGE fan of the genre.  For my money I’d pick a horror/slasher flick any day of the week.  Sure they’re campy, gory and go for the surprise factor but I absolutely LOVE them.  For a genre that’s one part blood, one part gore, two parts T & A and three parts bad story I just can’t get enough.  Without further adieu, here’s a list of my Top 10 favorite horror flicks (in no particular order). … Continue reading

  • The goddamn jackhammer is back.  We’ve had a week of silence so this comes as a very unwelcome shock to the system.  All I can say is this better be the best restaurant in downtown Cleveland when they’re done.
  • Mondays suck.  They suck even worse when Sunday night is bad.
  • Mobile devices are now officially the bane of my existence.  This includes cell phones, BlackBerrys, etc.  Sure they’re nice when you REALLY need to get a hold of someone but I’m thinking about officially boycotting them.  It’s crazy to be THIS connected.
  • The Indians are so bad that I’ve stopped… Continue reading

I feel compelled to write something today – the 8th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.  and the fourth plane in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.  2,993 people died that day and millions more were affected.

Amanda and I were living in Washington, D.C. and I remember it like it was yesterday.  The Internet came to a crawl because everyone was trying to figure out what was going on.  Phone lines were jammed and cell phones were unusable.  A co-worker’s father was in the Pentagon that morning.  He was… Continue reading

This post contains no spoilers whatsoever on the upcoming season…

I (like countless others out there) am a HUGE fan of the ABC show Lost.  There are certainly others out there who are more fanatical than I am.  For example I’ll listen to a couple of podcasts about the show but I’m not one to re-watch an episode looking for stuff I’ve missed.  If I missed it, I missed it.  Part of the reason I love it so much is that it’s one of only a few shows that both the wife and I enjoy.  That said I’m thinking… Continue reading

Summer is behind us and fall is upon us.  College football has started and my thoughts turn once again towards Bloomington and homecoming memories.  Unfortunately I won’t be in town for homecoming this year but I will be headed back to Indy in October for a weekend of debauchery.  Absolutely can’t WAIT!

I was going through some old pics and ran across this one.  As the title of the post says, who DOESN’T like a good keg stand???  I mean come on now… cold keg beer flowing while a couple of folks hold you upside down?  That right there is… Continue reading
