If you have children under the age of 5 you more than likely already know what a bounce house is.  If not, I’m here to tell you.  It’s an inflatable house, palace, maze, etc. that your child goes into for what seems like hours on end, bounces around and has a damn fine time doing it.  Remember, children have infinitely more energy than you do.

Anyhow, G got invited to a birthday party for one of his friends and it was held at a bounce house place called Pump It Up which calls itself, “The Inflatable Party Zone”.  There were… Continue reading

These days you can’t turn around without seeing a reboot, remake or retelling of some story from your childhood.  Hollywood has been on this kick for quite some time now so it was only a matter of time before remakes came to network television.  ABC is throwing its hat in the ring with a “re-imagining” of the 80′s classic V.

I’ve heard about this for quite a while now and to be honest with you I can’t believe I’m as behind as I am on following this story (Thanks Jason!)  The series is going to premiere on ABC… Continue reading

There are some actors that can play many roles.  There are others who are typecast and can never quite get outside of their comfort zone and play another character.  There are still others that are forever linked to one particular character.  That’s what this list is… the top 10 (in no particular order) “what character you think of first” list.  For me, these are career defining roles for these actors.  This is the first 10 that came to mind so I’m certainly not saying that there aren’t other career defining roles out there.  Let the debate begin!

Harrison Ford –… Continue reading

Before I start this review I wanted to give you my Joe credentials.  While I’m not old enough to have had the 12 inch figures I was fanatical when it came to the Hasbro figures and the original Marvel comic books.  I watched the cartoons religiously and remember like it was yesterday when I saw the animated movie for the first time – Cobra-la-la-la-la-la-la-la!!!  With that out of the way, on to the review.

This will contain spoilers – if you want to know nothing about the movie before you see it skip this post and come back after you’ve… Continue reading

In 1980 the face of horror movies changed.  We were introduced to Camp Crystal Lake and a killer named Jason Voorhees (yes, I know that Jason’s mother was the killer in the original… stick with me).  From 1980 to 2003, we were given 11 sequels that took Jason from Crystal Lake to deep space,  New York City and even to Hell.  After nearly 30 years it was time for this franchise to get rebooted… apparently.

Horror movies have never been about plot so I won’t bore you with details other than to say that this is theoretically re-telling the first… Continue reading

I’m not normally a fan of “based on a true story” movies simply because there normally isn’t enough drama involved (unless you’ve got a story like Miracle).  That said, Milk really wasn’t on my radar cause I’m not a big Sean Penn fan either.  However, once the reviews came out I knew that I had to see it simply to see how well Penn pulled off the role of Harvey Milk.

If you’re familiar with the story, Harvey Milk was the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in the state of California.  This movie tells… Continue reading

For us this has been a summer of weddings.  Denver, Chicago, Cleveland and now Charleston.  It’s weird how after a couple of summers with no weddings… BAM we get hit with 4 in one summer.  Certainly not complaining – we had a BLAST! (See: I Poked The Wedding Cake, Combos, Fireworks and Canoes – The Bachelor In Brookville and A Weekend With The Boys Part I and Part II for details).

This weekend’s travel was not without incident (is it ever?)

There’s no way to get directly from Cleveland to Charleston so we had to connect through Charlotte.  Not… Continue reading

They say you can’t ever go home.  In this picture, Pip and I prove that it simply isn’t the case.  This photo was taken 5 or 6 years after we left Bloomington during one of our trips back for Homecoming.  Not sure if the residents were even home but we just had to head home and snap this picture.

There never was a more perfect time than to thanks the Barenaked Ladies for their classic “This Old Apartment”

Broke into the old apartment This is where we used to live Broken glass, broke and hungry Broken hearts and broken bones… Continue reading

I was born in the mid 70′s. It was before we had hundreds of channels on TV and it was before there was a blockbuster a week in the theaters.  There are comic, cartoon and movie properties that are so ingrained into my being that they are a part of me… and they’re all being redone for the sake of the almighty dollar.

Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Transformers, Halloween, Friday The 13th, Tron… I could go on and on.  It seems as if Hollywood is completely devoid of any original ideas these days.  Don’t get me wrong – some of… Continue reading

For years, one of my favorite bands has been Jackopierce.  I started listening to them in high school and have been enjoying their music ever since.  For those of you that don’t know, Jackopierce is made up of Jack O’Neil and Cary Pierce.  The band was formed in 1988 while they both attended college in Dallas.  They recorded 6 albums including my favorite Live From The Americas before going their separate ways in 1998.  Pip hipped me to the fact that Cary Pierce put out a live album last year (which is phenomenal).

Lo and behold, Jack and Cary are… Continue reading
